My Prophecies box, which I've had for about 12 1/2 months now, says Teen. My Factions box, which I bought the day it was released, also says Teen. No mention of a specific age.

Anet uses both www.esrb.org and www.pegi.info. Both organisations are voluntary (which means that Anet does not necessarily have to get their game rated, but by doing so, will effectively increase their product sales), ESRB is American, PEGI is european (Australasia inclusive).

see, this is why you do research before posting your thread :P. Anet hasn't made any changes at all, it's just a different display depending on where you live^^.

Oh, I forgot to add. PEGI uses 12+, ESRB uses "Teen"

Ratings are meaningless, it's just a guideline for the parents. The number twelve on the box just means that 12 year olds can play the game without danger to their fragile young psyche.

The only age limit in the game is in fact the EULA which you can't "sign" yourself if you are under 13, so If Anet finds if you are under 13 they should ban you and make you send them a permission from your parents to play.

The ratings aren't designed to stop immature people from buying the product, they're designed for people who rely on ratings to determine their purchases

Not all people that are young are immature, but, That's where a LOT of the immaturity comes from...

I demand blood, gore and more violent violence so that it can get an MA Restricted 15+ rating by the OFLC (Office of Film and Literature Classification)!!! OFLC classification (for those outside Aussieland) of MA 15+ is a legal restriction on over 15s only being allowed to buy the game. Might cut down on the really young noobs, however there are a lot of children over the age of 15.

I am curently 16 atm , and i am a nice player=D some of these 7 8 9 10 11 12 year olds.. are OK , i mean the community is so bad right now, it actually isnt probably very good for these youngsters to play, i mean excuse my luangage but in game just in a town its , like f this f that f you n u noob u f*g u d*ushe u H*Mo ect ect .. its bad its real bad =(.

One quick idea to solve bad language IN GAME is if somone say any bad laungage even calling somone a noob .. i think should be auto logged off =/

im think 14-15 on age limit.

You've never played Halo, Counter Strike, or many of the other M rated online games have you? Those ratings make little difference on who actually ends up playing the game.

I'm truly surprised. I expected something like 8 years old.

Just go to Beacons or Droks and uncheck the mute local in your chat (because you keep it muted, right?) and take a look for yourself. If you think they're all 12+ years old, well, I think you should share whatever wreckreational drug you're abusing.

I suggested something like this a few times before. Have in-game mods that will temp-ban people for using bad language. And when they do that a message should be shown in chat : "Player [some name] has been banned for X-hours for [reason]"

Won't work. If you've ever played a multiplayer game with lots of blood and gore (Quake, UT, ...) you'll know that gore attracts many immature players rather than scaring them away. My impression is that the more limbs flying around, the more idiots you meet on servers.

Ever hear of the chat filter? It's in the options menu, and it lets you filter out those "harmful" words.

Really, people should learn how to use the filter. Parents complain that little Johnny saw a swear in Guild Wars, but fail to realize that their is a simple filter option so that little Johnny stays "clean" (really though what child isn't vulgar these days?).

Also, most of these people that call others names in a GAME are:
1. Little children with no grasp on the words
2. People with anger management problems
3. People who are having a bad day (I've done this)
4. People who are just plain ***holes
5. People who are just making up for their own short-commings

They can also be any combination of the 5, and I might have left something out.
